October 21, 2025 —Humboldt Commons, Life Plan Humboldt’s project in development, is now a Kendal “Affiliate in Development.” Humboldt Commons: A Kendal Affiliate will join ten other Kendal Affiliates across eight states. Building a new nonprofit senior living community is a complicated process and Life Plan Humboldt has been fortunate to work with advisors from the Kendal community guiding us along the way!
With over 50 years of experience, Kendal is a national system of senior living communities and services rooted in Quaker values. Kendal brings to Humboldt Commons a high level of experience and expertise, offering professional support, national connections, operational efficiencies and cost savings achievable by being part of a larger network. Yet Humboldt Commons will maintain autonomy within Kendal’s unique “federal” system model, and be able to respond to the needs of our distinct location and culture.
Kendal continues to draw strength and wisdom from Quaker-inspired values. Sharing these common values helps ensure that residents and employees share a spirit of community, collaboration, and respect for each individual. The organization is committed to fostering lifelong learning, resident-driven programming, and environmental stewardship while maintaining financial stability and operational excellence.
Humboldt Commons represents Kendal’s commitment to expanding high-quality senior living options in underserved regions.
