Welcome Center Opening & Friendraising Party

A large group of supporters gathered on November 10 to officially open the Humboldt Commons and Life Plan Humboldt office and to meet our first full-time employee, Kyle Salamon. During the next couple of months, Kyle will be working with the new information management systems and finishing the set-up of the office at 1585 Heartwood Drive. In the coming months, he will start getting to know the volunteers and donors who have made this project possible.

“We are excited to welcome Kyle to our dynamic team of passionate staff and volunteers. We are confident his expertise will promote awareness and interest in Humboldt Commons and assist future residents as they make the important decision to become one of the first residents of the community,” stated Ann Lindsay, board chair of Life Plan Humboldt.

“I’m excited to work with the team in this amazing area I call home, to benefit future residents and the surrounding community,” shares Kyle. “My career has been built in relationship-centered environments that prioritize listening, empathy and long-term connection — values that align closely with the values of Humboldt Commons.” Kyle lives in McKinleyville with his wife Vanessa, their two dogs, and their cat. Kyle loves to cook and enjoys the outdoors — from beach days in Trinidad to river days anywhere on the Trinity Highway.

There were over 70 attendees at the “Friendraising” along with some of our Kendal partners. We were joined by California State Assembly Member, Chris Rogers, and County Supervisor Steve Madrone.

Drinks were donated by party-goers, and the music was provided by quartet members Julie Fulkerson, Cindy Moyer, Karen Davy, and Elizabeth Morrison. Ambassador Laurel Stiffler saved the day by running home to get all her table lamps once we realized the Atrium did not have lighting for a nighttime event! People got to meet Kyle, visit inside the office and hear an update from Board President Ann Lindsay.

Thanks to McKinleyville Family Resource Center for the grant that helped LPH fund this Block Party event — it really did bring people together!
