Community Conversation: McKinleyville Town Center Visioning Meeting

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025

McKinleyville is entering an exciting new chapter. With the adoption of the McKinleyville Town Center Zoning Ordinance, the community now has a framework to shape a more walkable, connected and vibrant town center. As McKinleyville grows, conversations about walkability, housing, transportation and public spaces are increasingly relevant to those who care about the future of Humboldt Commons and the surrounding community.

On December 2, the Humboldt County Association of Governments (HCAOG) is hosting a public Community Conversation featuring three nationally recognized experts in urban design and community planning:

  • Dan Burden, Fellow at Blue Zones and a leading voice in walkability and Complete Streets
  • Victor Dover, Founding Principal of Dover-Kohl & Partners and a nationally known city planner
  • Josh Meyer, Program Director at CivicWell specializing in community design and rural placemaking

This is an opportunity for residents to hear fresh ideas, ask questions and take part in a community-wide conversation about what a thriving McKinleyville Town Center can look like in the years ahead.

Although this event is not hosted by Humboldt Commons, it may be of special interest to current supporters, future residents and anyone invested in the intentional development of the surrounding area.
